| Overview |
A small country, Armenia was formerly part of the USSR. Armenia borders Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey. The program in Armenia is small in comparison to larger countries. Children reside in orphanages or maternity homes in Yerevan. The orphanage and maternity home care is reported to be very good. Children from this area (in general) are fair to olive skinned, with dark hair.
Children Available:
Infants and children with special needs are available. Infants can arrive home as young as 12 months. Parents may request specific age, gender and general health of children when applying. Healthy older children and sibling groups are not available in this program.
Parent Qualifications:
Married couples and single women are eligible to apply. One of the adoptive parents should be younger than 49 years old to adopt an infant 12 months or younger. Parents must be at least 20 years older than the child.
Travel:
Travel is required by both parents. Two trips are required.
Timeline:
From application to completion, the process may take 18 months to 2 years.
