| Overview |
| Moldova is a growing program. Moldova enjoys a favorable climate, good farmland, and is famous for its wines. However, it remains the poorest country in Europe, accounting for the high placement of children in its orphanages.
Children available: Children of both genders and of all ages are in need of homes. The youngest children available for adoption are in the 2-4 year old age range. Pre-school and young school age children are also waiting for families. Sibling groups and children with special needs will be given priority in being matched with international families. Children are cared for in institutional settings in Moldova.
Parent Qualifications: Married couples and single women, where at least one member of the couple is under 50-years-old at adoption completion.
Timeline: After your dossier has been sent to Moldova, the wait time for a referral can vary, depending on your child request, though you can expect about 2-3 months on average. At the time of referral you will receive basic preliminary information about a child, learning more when you travel to Moldova on your first trip.Travel: Approximately one month after you accept a referral, travel estimate is 2-4 weeks after receiving a referral, you may travel for either one trip of 6 weeks or 2 trips of 2 weeks each. On the first trip you meet with the Central and Territorial authorities on adoption, and visit the child 5 days. On the second trip you go to court. Both parents must travel on both trips. |
