Since 2002, Homeland Children's Foundation has provided older children and teenagers in China's orphanages with education and aid. Children are provided with tuition, books, and supplies, clothing, remedial academic tutoring, and special, in orphanage classes, such as calligraphy, brush painting, and language classes. Children in the program are provided with a socialization program designed to improve their self esteem and to help them develop positive ties in their communities. Homeland students are taken on trips outside the orphanage, to cultural events, theme parks, parties and sporting events. They celebrate holidays together as a family.Students from local universities mentor the Homeland students and spend time with them on weekends. Teens receive career counseling, tutoring and college support if they qualify, or job training so that they may become independent adults.
This program has sites in Gaoyou, Gaochun, Shuyang, Changshu, and Hefei. 78 teens are currently enrolled in the program, which is managed by Professor Wu from our office in Nanjing, Jiangsu, China.
