Should Older Children Have a Choice in Adoption?
New Poll - and the results of last month's poll
September 01,2006 / Sue Anderson
Untitled Document

AdoptBlogger.com, editor Martha Osborne's blog on all things adoption related, held an interesting poll on adoption by gay people. She started out with a blog-post that basically stated she is an advocate for children, and isn't going to get caught up in the whole debate, after which she introduced her poll. A whopping 77% of people voted for the following statement:

"I think the most important thing is good families for kids. Being gay has nothing to do with it."

This week a new poll has started, which appears to have people giving a wider variety of opinions. The question, preceded by a thought-provoking post, is the following:

"Should children above age 10 have a choice in their adoption?"

Following the question are four possible answers. Why not give it a try and let your voice be heard?

A child should have the same rights as the adopters with regard to rejecting a family, if he does not think that it is the one for him. If it is possible to offer the child a choice of say 3 families the child is more likely to commit if he feels he has chosen his family.- elizabeth
